Lauren Potter from the hit TV show Glee will be visiting the Triangle the weekend of March 9 & 10 to attend several events in support of Down syndrome research. Lauren, who has Down syndrome, will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures at Crabtree Valley Mall on Sunday, March 10 from 12-1 pm. in the mall’s Center Court. The national megastar is visiting the Triangle as the special guest of Anna’s Angels, a Cary-based, non-profit that raises funds for Down syndrome research at Duke Children’s Hospital. Anna’s Angels, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, is holding its annual gala on March 9 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.
“We are so excited to have Lauren visit our mall to mingle with her fans and sign autographs,” said Crabtree Valley Mall Marketing Director Sandra Geist. “She is such a wonderful actress, and serves as an inspiration to so many people.”
That sentiment was reiterated Anna’s Angels founder Michelle Pfeiffer. “We are absolutely thrilled that Lauren agreed to join us this year in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the gala,” said Pfeiffer. “I can assure you that our daughter Anna, along with others who have Down syndrome, are both proud and inspired by Lauren. We are very grateful that she will be our special guest at this year’s gala.”
Anna’s Angels was started by Pfeiffer and her husband Andrew Merrills following the birth of their second child, Anna, who has Down syndrome. The organization has raised close to $1 million for Down syndrome research at Duke Children’s Hospital.
