Mina's Studio Grand Opening October 1 2012 in Chapel Hill

On October 1st 2011 Mina's Studio will host a Grand Re-Opening Celebration to benefit Anna's Angels Foundation, which raises funds for Down syndrome research. The event will be held from 10:00am until 2:00pm, at their newly renovated studio located in the Galleria Shopping Center at 400 S. Elliott Road in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

In the spirit of giving back and supporting the local community Mina's will be celebrating children with Down syndrome. Proceeds from sales, raffle and auction will benefit the Anna's Angels Foundation, which raises funds for Down syndrome research at Duke University. This charity has special meaning to Mina's Studio with their accountant's son and their employee's daughter (as well as being co-owner, Alejandra Scott's niece) with Down syndrome. “This charity really resonated with us having that personal connection with Down syndrome and knowing this is benefiting local research”, said co-owner Alejandra Scott. To date Anna's Angels has raised over $825,000.00, which has ALL supported research here in our local economy.

MOR Swim Team names Anna’s Angels
as this year’s Swim-a-thon charity recipient

Saturday November 20th, 2010

The Marlins of Raleigh (MOR)-Wolfpack Aquatics Swim Team is gearing up for their annual swim-a-thon on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Members of the swim team (ages 5-18) participate by swimming as many laps as possible in a two hour time period, or 200 laps maximum. Each swimmer asks for pledges from friends, family, businesses and neighbors. Proceeds of this very successful event benefit the swim team and a designated charity each year. This year we are delighted they have picked Anna’s Angels as their charity, which benefits Down syndrome research at Duke University.

MOR is a Silver Medal Club in the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program who develops champion athletes and citizens through a commitment to excellence in swimming. This year through MOR, 360 children are learning to set goals and understand values like commitment, dedication, perseverance and having fun.

If you would like to make a pledge or donation to this year’s MOR swim-a-thon, please contact Deb Bigsby at [email protected].

Anna’s Angels 10 Miler & 5 K
Sunday September 28th, 8:00am

One of the most anticipated running events in North Carolina will take place this September with the 3rd Annual Anna’s Angels 10 Miler and 5 K Runs.

Incorporating the wide, multi-lane roads of the Research Triangle Park, this event comes at an ideal time for the running community. Perfect as a lead in to the Fall marathon schedule; a distance that is not too aggressive for the average runner; and a course that is runner friendly without any major hills. In addition, we have a 5K for those runners not running the 10 Miler.

Anna’s Angels is a non profit fund under Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center. All funds raised support Down syndrome research at Duke.
